Michigan State field hockey senior Merel Hanssen and sophomore Ellie Rutherford have been named to the 2022 NFHCA Collegiate Watch List, as announced by the organization Tuesday. The watch list, which consists of 254 collegiate student-athletes across all three divisions, is intended to represent field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the 2022 NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams.

Lifted by a strong second-half offensive effort, Michigan State field hockey moved to 2-0 on Sunday with a 6-1 win over Saint Louis. Five different Spartans scored en route to the win, with sophomore Ellie Rutherford leading all scorers with two goals. Emma O’Neill, Lulu Fulton, Kim Smit, and Jillian Bonczewski each added a goal.
