The victory improved the No. 25 Spartans to 6-1 on the season, keeping the squad undefeated in non-conference play. For the Chippewas, they moved to 1-6 overall with the loss.

Entering Big Ten play this week and sitting at 5-0 on the season, the Michigan State field hockey team jumped into the Top-25 of the NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, the organization announced Tuesday. The Spartans land at No. 25 in the latest rankings, the first time the program has been nationally ranked in over 23 months. The most recent appearance by Michigan State in the national rankings was Oct. 1, 2019 at No. 24. Michigan State received 141 points in the weekly poll, capturing one first-place vote.

The non-conference win kept the Spartans undefeated and improved their record to 5-0, continuing the program’s best start since 2010. For the Cardinals, the loss moved them to 2-5 on the season.
