Michigan State opens its 140th season of Spartan baseball this weekend at the Swig & Swine Classic at Shipyard Park in Charleston, S.C. The Spartans start off the 2024 season and the season-opening weekend by facing Merrimack in the season-opener on Friday, Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. ET. MSU then plays a twinbill against Seton Hall and Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Michigan State wraps up the opening weekend on Sunday, Feb. 18 battling Ball State at 9 a.m.

Michigan State aims to bounce back this weekend in Arlington, Texas playing five games over three days at the Maverick Invitational hosted by UT Arlington. MSU opens the invitational on Friday, Feb. 16 with games against DePaul and Kansas City before facing Boise State and UT Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 17. The Spartans conclude the weekend with an additional game against Boise State on Sunday, Feb. 18. It will be the first-ever meeting between Michigan State and Kansas City. Saturday’s game against UT Arlington will stream on ESPN+.

Michigan State baseball announced its complete 2024 schedule Thursday. Head coach Jake Boss Jr. and the Spartans will play 32 non-conference games, opening on Friday, Feb. 16, and includes 24 Big Ten Conference games, starting in mid-March.

Michigan State baseball player Brock Vradenburg was selected in the third round with the 78th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday afternoon. Vradenburg’s third-round selection Monday combines with teammate Mitch Jebb’s second-round selection Sunday night to mark the first time that two Spartans were selected in the first three rounds of the June Amateur MLB Draft since 1969
