Legendary Michigan State baseball head coach Danny Litwhiler, the all-time winningest head coach in Spartan baseball history, was joined by the all-time winningest head coach in Western Michigan baseball history, Fred Decker in making up the Class of 2023 inducted into the Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame. Decker and Litwhiler were inducted into the Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame at Jackson® Field™ on Friday, July 7, before the Lansing Lugnuts’ game against the Lake County Captains that night.

Michigan State baseball player Mitch Jebb was drafted in the second round with the 42nd overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Major League Baseball Draft on Sunday night. Jebb becomes the Spartans’ highest draft selection since Mark Mulder was the No. 2 overall pick in the first round in the 1998 draft.

Brock Vradenburg added to his All-America award collection by being tabbed to D1Baseball’s Third-Team All-America list, announced by the publication. Vradenburg collects his fourth All-America honor, joining last week’s recognition from Baseball America. He was also named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Third-Team All-America list as well as Third-Team All-America accolades from Collegiate Baseball earlier this month. Vradenburg also collected the NCBWA Region 5 Player of the Year award and was also named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings First-Team All-Midwest Region list.

Former Michigan State baseball player Kyle Bischoff has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Twins. After signing with the Twins, Bischoff was assigned to the Florida Complex League Twins, who are the Rookie-level affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, competing in the Florida Complex League of Minor League Baseball.

Michigan State’s Brock Vradenburg was named to Collegiate Baseball’s Third-Team All-America list, announced by the publication on Thursday. Vradenburg garnered MSU’s first All-America accolade since Mason Erla collected second team honors in 2020.

The list features 45 of the nation’s best athletes from both college and high school baseball.

Bryan Broecker’s bat boosted Michigan State baseball to a 10-4 Victory for MSU at Rutgers, Saturday afternoon at RU’s Bainton Field, clinching the Big Ten Conference series. Broecker, the Spartans’ sophomore catcher, belted a grand slam in the fifth inning and a two-run double in the sixth inning, adding a single in the fourth to finish a triple shy of the cycle, ending the game 3-for-4 with six RBI and two runs scored.
