When it comes to in-state recruiting, Michigan State puts a premium on relationships. In Mark Dantonio’s tenure, the Spartans have tried to cast their web across the state, getting close with high school coaches and getting to know players well before extending offers. The hope seems to be that those relationships will win out against other schools that show late interest. That’s continued to be the strategy in the early days of 2017, as well.
