The Michigan State hockey program has announced its team awards for the 2019-20 season. A trio of seniors all garnered two honors, including goaltender John Lethemon who was named the Ron Mason Most Valuable Player. Forward Patrick Khodorenko was named the Outstanding Offensive Player and also won the Spartan Fitness Award, while defenseman Jerad Rosburg won the Blue Line Club President’s Award and was named the Dr. John Downs Outstanding Defensive Player for the second straight year.

Michigan State senior goaltender John Lethemon has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Mike Richter Award, it was announced Tuesday, March 24 by Let’s Play Hockey. The seventh annual award that honors the top collegiate goaltender will be announced April 10. The five finalists will be announced Monday, March 30.

It’s the fourth time this season Lethemon has been named one of the conference’s weekly stars, including his third First Star accolade. John Lethemon’s career high 48 saves helped the Michigan State hockey team knock off No. 6 Penn State, 2-0, in the in the Spartans’ Big Ten opener on Friday night at Pegula Ice Arena. Patrick Khodorenko scored the only goal the Spartans would need with 6:21 to go in the second period, while Logan Lambdin sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 2:02 to play.
