    Upon retiring from the NFL, Blaise Winter began speaking at clinics and helping schools with defensive line technique. One of the schools he worked with from approximately 2005-08 was Michigan State. In 2005, his son Donovan was only 6, but his father’s stories about working with the Spartans stuck with him. He decided at an early age that he wanted to be a Spartan.

  • Hunter Rison comes from good stock

    Hunter Rison is following his father’s footsteps at Michigan State, trying to give fans the same type of thrills Andre Rison gave them a generation ago as a member of the 1988 Rose Bowl championship Spartans team.Rison, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound four-star receiver, has enrolled early so he could showcase his talent this spring to compete for playing time.

  • Michigan State’s three early enrollees officially Spartans

    Ann Arbor (Mich.) Skyline receiver Hunter Rison, Fairfield (Ohi) corner Josiah Scott and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy tight end Jack Camper all arrived in East Lansing last week and are now officially Spartans. They’re Michigan State’s only early enrollees this cycle and will get a head start by jumping into MSU’s weightlifting program and participating in spring practice.

    Hunter Rison and his father, legendary Michigan State and NFL receiver Andre Rison, talked it over. High school was over for the son. It was time to become a Spartan. “It was a decision me and my dad made,” Hunter Rison said, “and it’s here now.”
