MSU Wrestling’s Omania to Olympic Redshirt for 2019-20
Michigan State wrestling redshirt freshman Peyton Omania has elected to take an Olympic redshirt for the 2019-20 season, MSU wrestling head coach Roger Chandler announced Wednesday. Omania, from Concord, Calif., will take the year off to train in hopes to make the 2020 USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Olympic Team at 67 kg.

Omania Claims Bronze at Greco-Roman Junior World Championships
Michigan State wrestler Peyton Omania claimed the bronze medal Sunday at the Greco-Roman Junior World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Omania became the first Spartan wrestler to earn a World medal since Franklin Gomez’ silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul.

Three Spartans Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team
Michigan State University had three student-athletes selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team on Thursday. Redshirt freshman Cameron Caffey (wrestling), junior Scott Piper (swimming), and senior Courtney Aycock (swimming) were all selected by CoSIDA in recognition of the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.

Michigan State wraps up its best season in Big Ten dual meet action since 2004 this weekend with a pair of duals against ranked opponents. The Spartans will first travel to University Park, Pa. on Friday, February 15 to face No. 1-ranked and undefeated Penn State (11-0, 7-0) at 7:00 p.m.

Redshirt freshman Brad Wilton got the dual started with bang, giving Michigan State a 6-0 lead after pinning Illinois’ Andre Lee in 5:44.
