March Madness has officially begun, and the Michigan State University women’s basketball team is dancing into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In a physical battle against 10-seeded Harvard, Michigan State used a dominant second half, fueled by shutdown defense, to secure a 64-50 victory. Junior forward Grace VanSlooten led the way with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Senior forward Jocelyn Tate and junior guard Theryn Hallock also reached double-digit scoring.

Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault was named to second team by both the coaches and the media. Junior forward Grace VanSlooten joined Ayrault with second-team honors by both the coaches and the media, while junior guard Theryn Hallock earned honorable mention honors by both the coaches and the media.

MSU Women’s Basketball Earns the No. 6 Seed in Big Ten Tournament
Michigan State women’s basketball will be the No. 6 seed in the upcoming 2025 TIAA Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, which will be held Wednesday-Sunday, March 5-9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Spartans (21-8, 11-7 Big Ten) earned the No. 6 seed for the first time since the 206-17 season. Michigan State will play in the second round on Thursday, March 6 at approximately 9 p.m. on BTN. MSU will play the winner of the game between No. 11-seeded Iowa and No. 14-seeded Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes and the Badgers will meet on Wednesday, March 5.
