MSU signees Jaren Jackson Jr., Sidney Cooks named McDonald’s All-Americans
After two McDonald’s All-Americans last year in guard Joshua Langford and forward Miles Bridges, the MSU men’s basketball team will welcome another in the form of signee Jaren Jackson Jr. Over on the women’s basketball side, signee Sidney Cooks was also named a McDonald’s All-American.

Women’s Winning Streak Halted at Rutgers Saturday
Michigan State women’s basketball had its two-game winning streak halted with a 62-58 loss to Rutgers at the RAC Saturday afternoon. With 48 seconds remaining, Kandiss Barber of Rutgers connected with a fastbreak layup to put the Scarlet Knights up 57-56. The Spartans re-took the lead with 37 seconds to play on a pair of free throws by senior guard Tori Jankoska that gave MSU the slight edge, 58-57.

Spartan Women Travel to Rugters Saturday on BTN
After going 2-0 during its recent homestand, the Spartans will embark on a two-game road trip. Michigan State will take on Rutgers on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 12 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. MSU will then travel to Evanston to play Northwestern on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. (ET) on BTN.

Michigan State women’s basketball signee Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wisc./ St. Joseph) was named a McDonald’s All-American Game nominee. The final rosters for the 24 girls and 24 boys selected for the games will be announced on Jan. 15 during a selection show on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Jankoska Sets 2 Records in MSU Women’s 94-75 Win Over No. 11 Ohio State
Tori Jankoska scored 42 points, breaking Michigan State’s single-game and all-time scoring record in a 94-75 win over No. 11 Ohio State on Tuesday night. The 5-foot-8 senior guard started the night six points away from Aerial Powers’ scoring record of 1,817 and needed just a few minutes to surpass her with two 3-pointers and a layup. She scored her final point on a free throw with 3:34 left, breaking Maxann Reese’s mark of 41 points on Jan. 29, 1999, against Iowa. Jankoska was given a rousing ovation when she was taken out of the game, for the first time, with 1:06 left and 1,853 points.

Jankoska breaks record, Spartans take down Buckeyes State News
Tuesday was a night filled with victory for MSU Women’s Basketball as senior guard Tori Jankoska became the program’s new all-time leading scorer and the team defeated Ohio State University, 94-75. Jankoska scored 42 points against the Buckeyes to overtake Ariel Powers’ record of 1,817 career points. Tori Jankoska wasted very little time in setting one Michigan State University record. So the former Freeland High School star decided to set another. The Michigan State senior, who needed seven points to set the MSU women’s basketball career scoring record, scored eight points before the first quarter ended. -
MSU Women’s Basketball Hosts No. 11 Ohio State

Suzy Merchant back but ‘not 100 percent’
Suzy Merchant couldn’t be happier to be on the sidelines and getting her Michigan State women’s basketball team ready to take on Ohio State on Tuesday night, the team that leads the Big Ten and is unbeaten in conference play. It’s something that she might have taken for granted in the past, but a little more than a week after she collapsed on the sidelines during the second half of a game against Illinois at the Breslin Center on Jan. 1, Merchant is glad to be back doing what she loves.

Suzy Merchant remains in East Lansing as Spartans travel to Purdue
Suzy Merchant will not be on the bench Wednesday night when the Michigan State women’s basketball team plays at Purdue. Associate head coach Amaka Agugua will fill in for Merchant against Purdue and for as long as Merchant is recovering. There has been no timetable set for her return.

Spartan Women Travel to Purdue for B1G Road Opener Wednesday
Michigan State will begin the road portion of the Big Ten schedule, taking on Purdue on Jan. 4 in West Lafayette, Indiana, at 6 p.m. After a loss to then-No. 2 Notre Dame on Dec. 20, the Spartans responded with a dominating 71-47 win over Illinois in the B1G home opener on New Year’s Day. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus. MSU is currently 11-3 overall this season and 1-0 in Big Ten action. -
Michigan State gave an update on the status of Suzy Merchant
In a scary series of events, Michigan State’s head women’s basketball coach Suzy Merchant collapsed during the Spartans game against Illinois on Jan. 1. Today, Michigan State got good news regarding its women’s head coach.
