Volleyball Announces 2018 Slate
Michigan State volleyball coach Cathy George has announced the 2018 Spartan Volleyball schedule. Coming off a trip to the NCAA national quarterfinals a year ago, the Spartans will be working in six new freshmen in addition to the nine returning players on the 2018 roster. Still to come is the announcement of the Big Ten television package as well as game times for most of the Big Ten Conference games. Those will be released closer to the start of pre-season camp.

Volleyball Adds Hicks As Technical Coordinator
Cathy George has announced the addition of Jeffery Hicks as a technical and video coordinator with the Spartan volleyball program. “We are very excited about adding Jeffery to our staff,” said George. “ His experience with high-level analytics and scouting for USA Volleyball at the national and international level will have an immediate impact on our planning, teaching and preparation. We’re thrilled that he is coming aboard and think he will be a valuable contributor to our program.”

Norris Named to USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team
Freshman Meredith Norris is among the 24 collegiate volleyball players selected to the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team that will train and compete in Detroit this summer.

Kelsay Named AVCA ‘Thirty Under 30’
Michigan State assistant coach and four-year letterwinner Kristen Kelsay has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association “Thirty Under 30” list, as announced by the AVCA on Thursday morning. The award was created in 2009 to honor up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels of the sport.

Six Spartans Off to USAVB National Team Open Tryouts
Michigan State’s volleyball program is sending six returning athletes to the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team Open Tryout, which will run March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Arielle Wilson Joins MSU Volleyball Staff for 2018
Michigan State volleyball coach Cathy George has announced the addition of Arielle Wilson to the Spartan coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Wilson brings a wealth of experience not only as a former Big Ten student-athlete and collegiate coach, but also boasts a five-year professional career playing abroad.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2017 All-American teams on Wednesday. Michigan State placed four players on the teams: Autumn Bailey (Burlington, Ontario) and Alyssa Garvelink (Holland, Mich.) were Second Team All-America selections, while Rachel Minarick (Naperville, Ill.) and Holly Toliver (Berrien Springs, Mich.) were Honorable Mention picks.

Minarick Named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America
Michigan State senior Rachel Minarick has been named a CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America, as announced by the organization on Monday. Minarick, a four-year starting setter for the Spartans, is just the second First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America in MSU Volleyball program history.

No. 12 Michigan State’s magical 2017 season came to a conclusion on Saturday evening, as the Green and White fell to No. 1 overall seed Penn State 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 26-28).

Final Four Spot On the Line Saturday for Spartans
No. 12 Michigan State takes on host No. 1 Penn State in an NCAA Regional Final match on Saturday in State College. Michigan State is the only unseeded team remaining in the Elite Eight. Other Elite Eight games on Saturday feature No. 5 seed Nebraska vs. No. 4 seed Kentucky (4 pm); No. 2 Florida vs. No. 10 USC (6 pm), and No. 3 Stanford vs. No. 6 Texas.

MSU Advances to Elite Eight With Win Over Illinois
No. 12 Michigan State advanced to the NCAA Regional final with a 3-1 victory (25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 29-27) over Big Ten foe Illinois on Friday in State College. The Spartans advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1996 and improve to 24-8 on the year. Illinois finishes the 2017 campaign with a 23-11 mark.

No. 12 Michigan State advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over No. 9 overall seed Creighton on Saturday night in Omaha, Neb.

Sweep of No. 25 Missouri State Sends Spartans to NCAA Second Round
No. 12 Michigan State opened the 2017 NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of No. 25 Missouri State (25-19, 25-11, 25-15). The Spartans are now 22-8, and advance to the second round of the Tournament for the seventh straight season.

NCAA Tournament Begins Friday in Omaha
No. 12 Michigan State has earned an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament and will take on No. 25 Missouri State in the first round in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday. Games will be played at D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center on the Creighton campus.
