In the annual Jam Jenison match against No. 23 Michigan at Jenison Field House, the Spartans battled through five tight sets with the Wolverines, but fell in five sets to their in-state rival (19-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-25, 15-17).

MSU has its third straight split home/road weeks of action, starting out with Wednesday’s Jam Jenison match at home against No. 23 Michigan before heading to Bloomington to tangle with Indiana in a Sunday matinee.

Michigan State suffered a 3-0 loss at No. 7 Wisconsin on Saturday evening, but had many positives to take from the match as it fought through 17 tie scores and eight lead changes with set scores of 23-25, 19-25, 22-25. The Spartans fall to 14-12 (5-11 B1G).

Michigan State battled through a hard-fought match with No. 6 Nebraska on Wednesday, but could never quite get over the hump in any of the three close sets and fell by a 3-0 margin to the Huskers (25-20, 25-18, 25-23).

Michigan State rallied from match deficits of 0-1 and 1-2 to post a five-set victory over Northwestern on Saturday at Jenison Field House. MSU improved to 14-10 overall and 5-9 in Big Ten play, snapping a six-match skid. The win also avenged a Northwestern win last Friday in Evanston, as the team split the season series.

Michigan State fell at Northwestern on Friday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to the host Wildcats (20-25, 17-25, 16-25). The Spartans hit just .115 in the match and suffered just their second loss of the season to an unranked team, and fall to 13-8 (4-7 Big Ten). Northwestern improves to 10-13, 1-10 Big Ten

MSU starts a three-match road swing on Friday when it heads to Evanston, IL to take on Northwestern, then finishes the weekend at No. 19 Illinois on Saturday.

Michigan State dropped its third straight match – all to opponents ranked in the top 10 – when it fell to No. 7 Minnesota, 3-1, at Jenison Field House on Sunday afternoon.

Michigan State dropped a second straight match on Friday, falling to No. 6 Wisconsin, 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 21-25). The Spartans fall to 13-6 and 4-5 in Conference play with the loss, and the league-leading Badgers improve to 13-4, 9-0 in B1G action.

On Friday, MSU will host its Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness game vs. Wisconsin. The program, in coordination with MSU’s Sideout Club, held a silent auction over the last three weeks for the pink jerseys that will be worn against the Badgers. The winning bidder has the choice to put a person’s name on their jersey that has been affected by cancer, and will receive the jersey after the match vs. Wisconsin.

Michigan State fell to No. 8 Penn State at home on Sunday, 3-0 (24-26, 11-25, 19-25). MSU has dropped both matches with the Nittany Lions this season, and fall to 13-5 overall and 4-4 in Big Ten play. Penn State improves to 14-3 and 7-1 in Conference play.

Michigan State returned home to Jenison Field House after most of the last four weeks on the road and earned a 3-0 sweep of visiting Rutgers (25-21, 25-18, 25-11). It is MSU’s third sweep of the Big Ten season and helped the home team improve to 13-4 overall and 4-3 in Big Ten play; Rutgers falls to 6-12, 0-7 B1G.

MSU gets its first home weekend in Big Ten play when it hosts Rutgers (Friday) and No. 8 Penn State (Sunday) this week. MSU has had just one home match since the third week of the pre-Conference season, but will play its next four on its home court. Sunday’s match will air live on ESPN.
