The Michigan State men’s golf team put together its best round of the Marquette Intercollegiate with a 1-under-par 287 in the final round on Tuesday at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. The Spartans ended the tournament 30-over-par 894 (303-304-287) to finish in ninth place.

For the second consecutive day, the Michigan State men’s golf team battled rainy conditions at Erin Hills Golf Course on day two of the Marquette Intercollegiate. The Spartans shot a 16-over-par 304 in Monday’s second round and are tied for ninth place overall at 31-over-par 607 (303-304).

The Spartan men’s golf team will play its second tournament in a stretch of four consecutive weekends of competition as MSU will head to Wisconsin to take compete in the Marquette Intercollegiate, Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. Michigan State is appearing in the tournament at Erin Hills for the second straight year.

Michigan State women’s golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll was inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday (Sept. 26) night at Van Andel Arena. Slobodnik-Stoll was part of an eight-member class that also included David Harris, Chris Kaman, Gene Paxton, Jim Haskins, and the Paganelli family of football officials, Carl Sr., Carl Jr., Perry, and Dino.

The Michigan State men’s golf team finished as runners-up at the Windon Memorial Classic at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois. The Spartans shot a 7-over-par 295 in Monday’s final round and finished 2-under-par 862 (281-286-295).

The final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship was canceled on Sunday in Franklin, Tennessee, due to heavy rain. The teams played round two on Saturday and got through half of round three before it was suspended with plans to resume Sunday, however inclement weather prevented the completion of the tournament at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

In a highly competitive field that features seven teams that ended 2017-18 ranked in the Golfstat top 30, the Spartans shot a 6-over-par 294 on Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.

The teams will play 18 holes each day with fixed tee times on holes one and 10 starting at 9:30 a.m. ET on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

MSU is 1-under-par 575 (291-284), four shots back of tournament leader Virginia. Georgia and Florida are tied for second place at 2-under-par 574.

The two-time defending Big Ten champion Michigan State women’s golf team will begin its 2018-19 season this weekend with the 35th annual Mary Fossum Invitational. The annual fall tournament will take place at Forest Akers West on Saturday (36 holes) and Sunday (18 holes). Saturday’s opening round at the par-72, 6,334-yard course is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round will get underway at 9 a.m. Admission is free to spectators.

Junior Spartan golfer Allyson “Ally” Geer Park has never done anything at anybody else’s pace. She was walking before her peers, beating the boys at her local club when she was 10-years-old and even graduated high school a semester early. Her talent was so prodigious that MSU women’s golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll offered her a scholarship the summer after she finished eighth grade.

The Michigan State men’s golf team took eighth place at the season-opening Gopher Invitational at the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minnesota. The Spartans shot an 8-over-par 292 in Monday’s final round at the par-71, 7,368 yard course and finished the tournament 16-over-par 868 (288-288-292), four shots out of the top five.
