Brian Lewerke is a quarterback and team captain. The Michigan State redshirt junior helped spearhead a resurgent 2017 with a breakout performance and entered the fall with lofty expectations that haven’t been met.Lewerke struggled early with turnovers while leading an underachieving offense and then suffered an injured right throwing shoulder. He played through the pain but has split time with backup Rocky Lombardi and become a target of criticism by fans on social media.
