With Michigan State trailing by three points late in the first quarter at Michigan last season, quarterback Brian Lewerke took a shotgun snap and scanned the field for an open receiver. He avoided a sack, tucked the ball in his left arm and sprinted through the middle of the defense before diving head-first between four defenders into the end zone.
