Mark Staten named as ‘potential candidate’ for Western Michigan job
Staten has been a Spartans assistant for the last 10 seasons, and was promoted to offensive line coach in 2011. He was a finalist for the head coaching job at Division-II Northern Michigan earlier this offseason. Staten grew up in Dowagiac, Mich., just about an hour drive from Kalamazoo (home of Western Michigan’s campus), so it would also be a geographic fit.
