Early indications are that XFL 2.0 aims to be a more legitimate operation than the first iteration — both led by WWE’s Vince McMahon — with Oliver Luck in place as commissioner. The league is holding tryouts in each of its eight cities this summer as it progresses toward its debut in February 2020, and a few Michigan State players have turned up to try to find a home in the spring football league.

Josiah Price was one of the most accomplished tight ends in Spartan football history, both on and off the field. He finished his career with the most touchdown catches (21) by a tight end in Michigan State history, which also ranks fourth among all players in the school record book. Price’s 104 career catches and 1,238 receiving yards also rank third most among Spartan tight ends. A two-time Big Ten Champion (2013, 2015), Price helped the Spartans to wins in the 2014 Rose Bowl and 2015 Cotton Bowl and a berth in the 2015 College Football Playoff. The four-year letterwinner played in 51 career games at MSU while making 25 starts.

Michigan State had just two players picked in the 2017 NFL Draft: Defensive lineman Malik McDowell in the second round and safety Montae Nicholson in the fourth round. But several more former Spartans will find their way to training camps later this year, as undrafted free agents.

Josiah Price will be at home in Indiana with close family and friends next weekend, hoping to hear his name called during the NFL Draft. That’s when football becomes a business. Yet he and another Michigan State graduate already have started moving toward their post-sports professional lives.

Josiah Price finished his Michigan State career with 21 receiving touchdowns, setting the school record for tight ends at MSU. He finished fourth in career touchdowns behind Charles Rogers, BJ Cunningham and Kirk Gibson.
Following Michigan State’s Pro Day back in March, tight end Josiah Price declined to say what teams had been showing interest in him. On Friday, though, Price went on Spartan Radio and said that he’s “had a lot of interactions” with Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis and San Francisco.

Four Michigan State graduates Matt Macksood, Benny McGowan, Tyler O’Connor and Josiah Price have been named to the 2017 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society. The NFF Hampshire Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.
When Josiah Price was running around flag football fields as a third grader, he fantasized about being in the Super Bowl. Obviously, playing in the NFL has been a longtime dream. Being invited to the NFL Combine wasn’t because, well, how many kids actually know what the combine is?

Josiah Price, who finished his career in the fall with the most touchdowns by a Spartan at that position (21), headed down to IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) in January. He plans to train at the prestigious athletic institution well into March in the lead-up to the NFL Draft in April. While he does that, 3-star recruit Jack Camper has departed IMG, where he played his junior and senior seasons, to enroll early at Michigan State. Most would probably prefer to be in Florida, but since it means playing Big Ten football, Camper has embraced frigid life.
