Former Spartan standout Jim Slater has been named the program’s volunteer assistant coach, head coach Danton Cole announced on Tuesday (September 3). Slater replaces Jason Muzzatti, who recently joined the Carolina Hurricanes as the club’s goaltending coach.

Olympics Set to Begin for Slater and Radunske
Competition at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games will begin this week for Spartans Jim Slater and Brock Radunske. Slater and the United States start play on Wednesday vs. Slovenia, while Radunske and Korea meet the Czech Republic on Thursday. Slater is the ninth different Spartan to represent the United States in the Olympic Games. Additionally, 2018 will mark the fifth consecutive Olympiad in which Team USA’s roster will feature a former Spartan hockey player.
