The Michigan State hockey program has announced its team awards for the 2019-20 season. A trio of seniors all garnered two honors, including goaltender John Lethemon who was named the Ron Mason Most Valuable Player. Forward Patrick Khodorenko was named the Outstanding Offensive Player and also won the Spartan Fitness Award, while defenseman Jerad Rosburg won the Blue Line Club President’s Award and was named the Dr. John Downs Outstanding Defensive Player for the second straight year.

Jerad Rosburg Signs Entry-Level Contract With Dallas
Michigan State redshirt senior defenseman Jerad Rosburg has signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars, the club announced on Monday (March 9). Rosburg will report to the Texas Stars, the club’s top affiliate in the American Hockey League. Rosburg, a finance major, appeared in 141 games during his four seasons wearing the Green and White and compiled 55 points (12g, 43a) – the most by a Spartan defenseman since Torey Krug (2009-12).

Jerad Rosburg: A Football Coach’s Son Living His Hockey Dream
Sunday always meant a little more at the home of Michigan State hockey defenseman Jerad Rosburg. The day was different because Rosburg’s father, Jerry, was roaming the sidelines of NFL games. Jerry just retired from coaching this past spring, after spending nearly 40 years in that role. He helped the Baltimore Ravens win the Super Bowl in 2013, and was their special teams/associate head coach.

Neil’s Notebook: The Rivalry Resumes Thursday
Senior center Patrick Khodorenko and senior defenseman Jerad Rosburg have played more games against Michigan and Ohio State than any other team in during their Michigan State careers. They’ve played against the Wolverines and Buckeyes 15 times and there’s at least four more coming up this season against each team in their final year as Spartans. But when it comes to rivalries, there’s nothing like Green and White against Maize and Blue for Khodorenko and Rosburg. It’s exciting, intense, physical and emotional and sometimes a bit chippy.

Four Spartans Voted to Preseason All-Big Ten Teams
The Big Ten released its Preseason All-Big Ten teams on Monday, which included four Spartans. Junior forward Mitchell Lewandowski and sophomore defenseman Dennis Cesana were both voted by the league’s coaches to the second team, while senior forward Patrick Khodorenko and senior defenseman Jerad Rosburg earned honorable mention.

Spartans Announce Captains for 2019-20
Michigan State hockey head coach Danton Cole has announced the team captains for the 2019-20 season. Sam Saliba and Tommy Apap will serve as captains, while Jerad Rosburg and Patrick Khodorenko will be assistant captains. It marks the second straight season Saliba will wear the ‘C’ and the first for Apap, who served as an assistant captain last year. Rosburg and Khodorenko will both be serving in leadership roles for the first time as Spartans.

Neil’s Notebook: Physical Rosburg Helps Anchor Spartan Blue Line
It was late in the third period and Michigan State was protecting a 5-4 lead last Saturday at Penn State. Spartans defenseman Jerad Rosburg was in the corner in the defensive zone and got caught flat-footed while trying to win a battle for a loose puck. He took a heavy hit from a Nittany Lion forward. He fell to the ice and the crowd, led by the student second, roared its approval.
