    As the son of Michigan State fans, Jaylan Franklin grew up rooting for the green and white. The 2018 three-star athlete from Carlson High School in Gibraltar was a big fan of Le’Veon Bell and also wanted to be a playmaker for the Spartans. Flash forward to late February and Franklin was inside the Duffy Daugherty Building watching Michigan State practice. Coach Mark Dantonio pulled him aside and extended a scholarship offer.

    One of the most versatile prospects in Michigan for the football recruiting class of 2018 is Jaylan Franklin of Gibraltar Carlson. The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder was in East Lansing last weekend and received some good news.Franklin is rated a three-star prospect and the the No. 35 “athlete” recruit in the nation by rivals.com. His ranking could move higher in the coming months, as he gets a chance to showcase his skills at regional camps and combines.

  • Trieu: MSU offer ‘so surreal’ for Jaylan Franklin

    Michigan State hosted a junior day on Sunday which had many talented prospects at it. The event produced a commitment from Dearborn Divine Child quarterback Theo Day. New offers were also extended to several attendees: Xenia (Ohio) wide receiver Meechi Harris, Gibraltar Carlson athlete Jaylan Franklin and Milan offensive tackle Michael Furtney in the junior class, and Detroit Cass Tech running back Jaren Mangham in the sophomore class.
