Novak, who enters his first year as the head coach of strength and conditioning for the football program in 2020, took over for 25-year head strength and conditioning coach Ken Mannie, who announced his retirement in February.

The lack of hands-on work in the weight room might be even more challenging for Jason Novak. Tucker’s new strength and conditioning coach replaces Ken Mannie, who retired. Novak does not have the benefit of watching workouts or holding Zoom sessions with the Spartans, with the school closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Michigan State head football coach Mel Tucker has announced two more hirings for the program. Jason Novak has been named the head strength and conditioning coach for football, while Scott Aligo will serve as the director of player personnel. Geoff Martzen, who joined the staff last week as the director of player personnel, will now serve as the program’s chief of staff.
