Baker Mayfield is ‘going to be dangerous’ largely because of Drew Stanton, says Damion Ratley
If Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield wakes up feeling dangerous this season, it will be largely because of his mentor Drew Stanton, says receiver Damion Ratley. “Drew is a really smart guy,’’ said Ratley. “I don’t think you understand how smart Drew really is. Drew will tell you something that’s going to work and that thing works. So Bake literally learns from him, so you’ve got to think of it in that kind of way, like Bake’s going to be dangerous.’’

Michigan State’s great QBs are mentoring Brian Lewerke. Here’s how
Stanton and Cousins hope they can keep Lewerke on course, too. Lewekre became the focus of MSU’s offensive woes in the middle of last season, with his injured throwing shoulder and damaged confidence. His junior season paled in comparison to the breakout 2017 season in which he accounted for 3,352 total yards — becoming the Spartans’ first true dual-threat QB since Stanton finished in 2006 — and directing a 10-3 record as a first-year starter.

Q&A: Jack Conklin, Drew Stanton talk MSU turnaround, bowl snub
Jack Conklin, like the other 52 men inside a silent Tennessee locker room, was not in a chipper mood. It was Dec. 10, and the Titans had just sleepwalked through a 12-7 loss to the underdog Cardinals inside University of Phoenix Stadium. To make matters worse, the second-year All-Pro right tackle was flagged for a pair of holding penalties, one of which negated a 54-yard run by DeMarco Murray that put Tennessee in business inside the Arizona 30-yard line late in the first quarter.

Max Bullough is on that list, but he’s unsigned and reportedly facing an eight-game suspension for performance-enhancing drug use. The Houston Texans cut wide receiver Keith Mumphery at the same time as Bullough shortly after the release of a report saying Michigan State had expelled him for violating the school’s sexual
