Brian Lewerke, military camp and pursuit of a revival
The wheels of the Grumman C-2 Greyhound, a twin-engine military cargo plane, hit the deck of the USS Nimitz but missed their catch rope, forcing the pilot to pull his plane back into the air again, circle back and take another shot at landing on the aircraft carrier 200 miles from San Diego. The second time, it went without a hitch. Not exactly the kind of touchdown that nervous passenger Brian Lewerke expected, but in many ways somewhat fitting. And somewhat emblematic of his aspirations for his senior season.

Brian Lewerke is sure of at least one thing — he knew exactly what to bring when he checked into the dorms on Wednesday night. Brian Lewerke’s ability to shoulder load key to Michigan State
Through six games last fall, Lewerke had thrown for nearly 1,600 yards with a 61.4-percent completion rate, but he’d also racked up as many interceptions (seven) as he had in a breakout 2017. He’d also suffered a shoulder injury late in that sixth game, just prior to tossing a game-winning touchdown pass against Penn State.

Spartans look to get Brian Lewerke, offense on track
Projecting how things will play out in the Big Ten East is no simple task. One of the toughest divisions in college football likely will have four teams in the preseason rankings, including Michigan and Ohio State almost certainly in the top 10. Add in Michigan State and Penn State, and all of them are capable of winning the title and reaching the conference championship game.

I Believe In Brian Lewerke
Remember that at this time last year there were articles being written touting Lewerke as a potential high NFL draft pick and dark horse Heisman candidate. Those look like ridiculously bad takes now, but there was plenty of reason to think that Lewerke was capable of putting up big numbers based on his performance as a sophomore. So when I hear that he is bigger, stronger, and most interesting of all, faster, I think the potential is there for that next level to be reached.
