Allyson Geer brought to tears after Meijer LPGA Classic invite
They were happy tears for Michigan State freshman golfer Allyson Geer. After finishing a poor round of golf a couple months ago, her coach, Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, said she had some good news to cheer her up. Meijer had extended Geer an invitation into the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give – which she had to keep secret until Thursday, when all three player exemptions were publicly announced for next week’s LPGA Tour event in Grand Rapids. Blythefield Country Club will host the 72-hole, four-day, $2 million event June 15-18.

Michigan State women’s golfer Allyson Geer has been awarded a sponsor exemption to play in the Meijer LPGA Classic, it was announced by the tournament on Thursday, June 8 in East Lansing. The 2017 Meijer LPGA Classic will take place June 15-18 at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids.

Allyson Geer’s Hole-in-One Helps Spartans Get Off to Good Start at the Briar’s Creek Invitational
The Michigan State women’s golf team shot two of its best rounds of the year on Monday at the Briars Creek Invitational in Johns Island, South Carolina. The Spartans were led on Monday by freshman Allyson Geer, who currently sits in ninth place at 2-under par 142 for the tournament after a career-low 4-under par 68 in the opening round and a then a 2-over par 74 in the afternoon. The highlight of the day came courtesy of Geer as she recorded a hole-in-one on the 150-yard, par-3 17th hole in the second round.
