Michigan State is back at home this weekend and continues to run through the B1G gauntlet hosting No. 2-ranked Nebraska and (RV) Washington in the Breslin Students Events Center this upcoming weekend. Nebraska comes to town for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, October 18 before MSU welcomes Washington for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday, Oct. 20.

Michigan State volleyball took a surging Illinois squad to five sets on Saturday night, falling 3-2 (15-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 15-8), at the Breslin Student Events Center. Sophomore middle blocker Zuzanna Kulig’s 12 blocks on Saturday were a new career-high and represented the most by a Spartan since Alexis Mathews posted 12 against Michigan on November 24, 2010. It’s the fourth-most individual blocks in a single match in program history.

After two consecutive road weekends to open Big Ten play, Michigan State volleyball returned home on Friday night falling to No. 3-ranked Penn State by a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-16) tally at the Breslin Student Events Center.

Michigan State volleyball held its own against No. 10-ranked Purdue on Sunday night, but ultimately fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-18) inside Holloway Gymnasium on Big Ten Network.

Big Ten Conference play continues for Michigan State volleyball this week in Indiana for the second of two consecutive B1G weekends on the road. The Spartans open the weekend against Indiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night in Bloomington, Ind. before heading to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on No. 10-ranked Purdue at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.

A gritty four-set effort was not enough for Michigan State volleyball on Sunday as it fell 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-23) to No. 4-ranked Penn State at Rec Hall. Junior outside hitter Taylor Preston turned in her best performance of the season tallying 18 kills on .317 hitting alongside seven digs and two blocks.

Michigan State volleyball was defeated in its B1G opener on Friday night, falling to Michigan 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) at the Crisler Center. Senior setter Julia Bishop tallied a double-double, leading the team in both assists (16) and digs (11). MSU moves to 7-5 (0-1 B1G) on the season

Michigan is off to a 10-1 start in 2024 under second year head coach Erin Virtue. The Wolverines were dealt their first loss of the season last week at North Carolina, falling in five sets. UM is 7-0 at home, including wins over Delaware, Kent State (x2), Eastern Michigan, Sacramento State, Akron and Oakland.

Wrapping up non-conference action on Sunday afternoon, Michigan State fell to North Carolina, 3-1 (25-18, 16-15, 25-23, 25-20), at Carmichael Arena. The Spartans were on their final match of a four-match week that started in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Monday night. MSU moves to 7-4. overall

Playing in its first five set match of the season, Michigan State took down Duke, 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 15-10), inside historic Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday night. MSU dug deep to control set five from the onset after the Blue Devils charged back to take sets three and four.

Michigan State volleyball is back in action this weekend for it’s final two matches of the non-conference schedule. The Spartans are slated to face Duke at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20 before meeting North Carolina at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22. It’s the third consecutive season that MSU has squared off with ACC foes Duke and UNC. Both matches will stream on ACC Network Extra via the ESPN+ platform. Subscription to ACC Network is required.

Four Spartans tallied double-doubles on Tuesday night in Michigan State’s 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22) victory over Purdue Fort Wayne to close home non-conference play at the Breslin Student Events Center. Michigan State improves to 6-3 overall heading into the final non-conference weekend of the regular season.

Michigan State volleyball was back in action Monday night, defeating Eastern Michigan on the road, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20), at the Gervin GameAbove Center. Junior outside hitter Akasha Anderson matched her season-high 17 kills to pace the Spartans offensively, while senior setter Julia Bishop collected her 10th career double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs.

Michigan State volleyball was defeated by 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifier Western Michigan on Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21), at the Breslin Student Events Center. MSU moves to 4-3 overall while the Broncos improve to 4-2.

Western Michigan comes into Wednesday night’s match with a 3-2 record featuring victories over Loyola Marymount (3-1), Loyola Chicago (3-1) and Marquette (3-1). The Broncos two losses came at the hands of Clemson (3-1) and then No. 13-ranked Kansas (3-0). When WMU defeated then No. 24-ranked Marquette last weekend it marked the Broncos first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 18 Ohio State in 2003.

For the second time in her career, fifth year libero Nalani Iosia has been named B1G Defensive Player of the Week. Iosia is just the fourth Spartan all-time to earn two B1G defensive weekly honors in a career since the award originated in 2005, joining Allyson Karaba (2007-10), Alexis Mathews (2009-13) and Kori Moster (2011-14).

Michigan State volleyball earned its first sweep of the season on Saturday afternoon, taking down Marist in straight sets 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-14) on day two of the second annual Kathy DeBoer Invitational presented by Auto-Owners Insurance.

Michigan State volleyball welcomed Spartan fans to the Breslin Student Events Center for the first time in 2024 on Friday night, taking down Western Kentucky in four sets, 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23). Western Kentucky entered the weekend receiving the second-most votes (68) of all non-Top 25 teams in the AVCA/Taraflex Coaches Poll​.
