The Spartans took the doubles point, as they have in all seven wins this season, before Emily Metcalf, Davina Nguyen, Lexi Baylis and Athena Trouillot all picked up wins in singles play to give MSU the victory.

Michigan State men’s tennis team pushed its win streak to four after defeating Western Michigan and Chicago State, Feb. 11. MSU defeated instate rival Western Michigan 4-3, before defeating Chicago State 4-0 later in the evening. It was a solid weekend for the Spartans,” said head coach Gene Orlando. “We started the day off with a grind it out match win against WMU 4-3 and closed out the night with a 4-0 win over Chicago State.”

Women’s Tennis Hosts Xavier On Sunday
The Michigan State women’s tennis team continues their five-match homestand as they welcome Xavier on Sunday, Feb. 12, with the match set to begin at 12 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. Michigan State is looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season, falling to No. 14 Auburn 4-3 last weekend. MSU also picked up two wins on the weekend after defeating Toledo 7-0 and Bowling Green 5-0. MSU is now 6-1 on the season.

Michigan State will host the Toledo Rockets and the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Michigan State men’s tennis dropped a close 4-3 match on the road to Clemson, Jan. 29. “It was a tough loss,” said head coach Gene Orlando. “We put ourselves in a position to get a big win on the road and came up just short. The team really extended themselves and we played our best tennis of the season thus far. We are improving and sometimes you have to suffer before you win, this one stung.”

Women’s Tennis Takes Two in Texas
The Michigan State women’s tennis team built on its successful start to the season with a 4-3 win at UT-Arlington to improve to 4-0 on the year. Senior Athena Trouillot continued her historic run and now has the most overall wins in school history after picking up career win 131 today. Trouillot also became the MSU all-time singles wins leader last weekend.

The Michigan State women’s tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 4-3 win at North Texas on Saturday afternoon. It was an impressive road victory for the Spartans, as the Mean Green have won 75 percent of their home matches under current head coach Sujay Lama, posting a 66-22 record. UNT hadn’t lost at home in over a year, with its last home loss coming April 1, 2015 vs. No. 17 TCU.
