Michigan State men’s soccer returns to the Elite Eight for the second-straight season after a 1-0 win against 13th-seeded Georgetown Sunday in Washington, DC. MSU has now reached the Elite Eight four times in the last six seasons.
Michigan State continues its NCAA Tournament run, traveling to 13th-seeded Georgetown on Sunday, Nov. 25 for a third-round matchup at 1 p.m. This is the Spartans’ eighth NCAA appearance under head coach Damon Rensing. MSU has posted a 9-5-3 record in NCAA Tournament games under his guidance. The Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight in 2013, 2014 and 2017. Overall, MSU has reached the NCAA Tournament 20 times with a 27-14-5 record.

Seven different Michigan State men’s soccer players were honored when the Big Ten postseason awards were announced by the league Friday. Junior midfielder Giuseppe Barone became the first Spartan to earn Big Ten Midfielder of the Year honors, since Jay Chapman in 2014. Barone was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016.
