Even before the surprising run to Michigan State’s 5-1 start began, Mark Dantonio promised there would be growth among his young players. That’s a natural progression. Freshmen become sophomores by midseason, the old coaching axiom goes. But with so many of them beginning their careers in pivotal roles for the Spartans, even Dantonio did not know what to expect.
