Hartbarger is just the third starting punter during coach Mark Dantonio’s 11-year tenure and the other two were Aaron Bates and Mike Sadler – both four-year starters and among the best to ever play the position for the Spartans. Bates was the first punter in program history selected as a captain and Sadler, who died in a car crash last summer, was a beloved teammate. Then, Hartbarger took over the job in 2015 as Michigan State won a Big Ten title and reached the College Football Playoff.
