On the eve of his second season at Michigan State, Jonathan Smith sounds like a coach who has his feet under him. No delusions, but an understanding of his roster, his rivals and even his regrets from a trying first season in East Lansing. For example, he didn’t love how he coached the game at Michigan.“Some of the decisions I made in a couple of games, whether you’re going for it or calling timeout or not, that could have impacted one or two (games),” he said this week, a day after the end of his second fall camp.
