It started out with the kind of late-night drama the TV networks had to love as 2-seed Michigan State and 15-seed Bryant competed in the penultimate game of the NCAA Tournament’s round of 64. It didn’t end that way. There was no single overwhelming surge that swung the game in MSU’s favor and shifted the mood from unnerving to unbothered. The Spartans power walked their way past Bryant in the second half, while the Bulldogs crawled through sand and saw the gap methodically grow over the final 10 minutes.
