Sissoko, whose parents are farmers, grew up in the rural town of Bafoulabe as the youngest of 10 children – six sisters and three brothers. He started playing basketball in 2015 and was noticed by Mike Clayton, who was on a trip to Mali and is now his guardian. That led to an opportunity to move to America.
