It was about 4 a.m. when Tom Izzo heard noise outside his tent last fall. That’s not unusual because the Michigan State coach was surrounded by thousands of college students as part of the annual Izzone campout. But the topic of conversation was one he felt required attention amid a light rain. “This kid’s walking by and he’s holding his girlfriend’s hand. He said, well, I bet you that so-and-so Izzo is back home,” Izzo recalled after practice on Tuesday. “I unzipped my tent and I said, no, that blankety-blank Izzo is right here. He felt stupid, I felt great.”
