With just 10 days from the opening puck drop to the Michigan State hockey season, the preseason hype train has a full head of steam. The Spartans, who haven’t made the NCAA tournament since 2012, had their media day Wednesday as they enter the season with, arguably, their highest expectations since 2007 — when they were coming off a national championship. MSU is ranked No. 9 in the preseason United States College Hockey Online poll and was picked to finish third in the Big Ten behind Minnesota and Michigan, who are both ranked in the top five.
