After working under four different head coaches — Nick Saban, Bobby Williams, John L. Smith and Mark Dantonio — Ken Mannie decided to retire at age 67, publicly announcing his decision on Feb. 13, one day after MSU introduced Mel Tucker as its new head coach. Jason Novak was hired two weeks later to oversee the weight room Mannie roamed since Saban brought him to East Lansing in December 1994.
