Michigan State made a nearly unprecedented tumble this season in terms of the Associated Press rankings when it went from No. 1 in the preseason to unranked earlier this month. Only one other team in modern poll history has previously made such a fall. But in most other ranking systems, the Spartans haven’t actually fallen very far at all.
