One of the biggest questions surrounding Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class was how Julian Barnett would be used. Cornerback or wide receiver? It proved to be the latter and Barnett played on offense in all 12 regular-season games for the Spartans this year. And that wasn’t what he expected. “Not really,” Barnett said after Michigan State (6-6, 4-5 Big Ten) beat Maryland on Saturday to become bowl eligible. “When I came up here, I just had an idea of me helping out the team any way I could.”
