Western Michigan rolled to 48-13 season-opening win against Monmouth on Saturday behind an impressive performance by Jon Wassink. The fifth-year senior quarterback, bouncing back from a season-ending injury last year, completed 20 of 25 passes for 368 yards and five touchdowns. However, the Broncos struggled in the running game and will be looking to improve on the ground when they play No. 18 Michigan State on Saturday (7:30 p.m., BTN) in East Lansing. That will be a significant challenge given they’re facing the nation’s top-ranked rushing defense.
