Some years are just better when they’re over. Michigan State’s football season reached that point Saturday, a 14-10 win over Rutgers that got the Spartans to 7-5, but — after three months of watching MSU’s offense — felt like a slow, miserable grind to 4-8. These painful-to-watch Spartans are headed to a bowl game. They earned it. Well, their defense did anyway.
