In 1984, Ed Warinner made a 37-mile journey that started everything. Fresh off a career as a quarterback/running back at Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, just before eventual head coach Larry Kehres would turn the private school into a Division III powerhouse, Warinner packed up and joined Jim Dennison’s Akron staff to work with the school’s running backs as a graduate assistant. He learned a lot in his short stay there. He made a friend, too. A roommate named Mark Dantonio.
