Tom Allen was in his first year as Indiana’s defensive coordinator when the Hoosiers beat Michigan State for the first time in a decade. The defeat was one of seven straight for the Spartans as they plummeted to a 3-9 finish in 2016 while juggling three quarterbacks. On Saturday, they will make their first return to Bloomington, Ind., since that 24-21 overtime loss and Allen, now Indiana’s head coach, notices a key difference.
