The standout from Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian High School didn’t have a single Division I offer and chose to be a preferred walk-on at Michigan State. He earned a scholarship last spring and then rewarded the coaching staff for their faith in him with a breakout season. Now heading into his redshirt junior season, Willekes is maintaining the same work ethic that took him from scout team walk-on to starter.
