There is something noticeably different about the Michigan State offense in the last two games. The numbers jump out at you from the stat sheet. During the last two games, Brian Lewerke made 56 and 57 pass attempts, as opposed to attempting only 202 passes total through the first seven games. Lewerke’s career high before the Northwestern game was 51 pass attempts against Notre Dame and that was understandable since Michigan State was playing catch-up with Notre Dame for most of the game.
