It’s easy to forget now the state of Michigan State’s quarterback situation three weeks ago. Brian Lewerke was coming off three straight games with less than 200 yards passing. He was completing just better than 50 percent of his passes in those games (which, in fairness, included two rain-soaked contests). Michigan State won all those three games, but did so largely with a standout defense and an adequate passing game.
