Lewerke has been MSU’s most lethal offensive weapon in the run game, a true dual-threat quarterback who leads the Spartans in both rushing yards and ground touchdowns thanks to his ability to run the read-option. There clearly are no ill effects from the broken leg he suffered a year ago against U-M, when Jabril Peppers sacked him in the fourth quarter after Lewerke had gone 6-for-10 passing for 100 yards and a touchdown while running for 32 more yards on two carries before the sack.
