Michigan State men’s soccer team had three players named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list on Monday, as announced by the conference office. Graduate midfielder Jack Beck, redshirt-senior defender Will Perkins and junior forward Grayson Mercer were all honored by the league. The Big Ten preseason poll was also released Monday, as voted on by the nine league coaches. MSU was voted to pick sixth, while reigning Big Ten Tournament champion, Penn State, was voted to finish first. Indiana was voted to finish second, with Maryland taking the third position.

Will Perkins Earns B1G Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honors
Redshirt-sophomore Will Perkins was named Big Ten Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Perkins, a defender from Detroit, Michigan, earned the Spartans’ first Player of the Week this year honor after guiding Michigan State to its first two-win week of the season. In a win against Wisconsin on March 31 Perkins scored his first career goal in the Spartans’ 4-1 victory. In Michigan State’s 1-0 road win against Ohio State on April 4, he provided the assist on the game-winning goal.
