Michigan State’s Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Walt Drenth announced his retirement on November 30. With more than 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, Drenth arrived at Michigan State in 2004 as the head men’s cross country coach, and in 2006 he was appointed as the director of the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.

Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Walt Drenth has been unanimously named Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year by the Big Ten Conference, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Walt Drenth Named Regional Men’s Coach Of The Year
Michigan State Director of Cross Country Walt Drenth was named Great Lakes Regional Men’s Coach of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Tuesday. This marks the first men’s honor of its kind for Drenth.
