    Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio addressed local media before the Spartans’ preseason practice on Monday and gave brief assessments of both Thursday’s scrimmage and the Big Ten Network’s visit on Saturday.

  • Preseason Camp Update: Spartans Practice in Full Pads for First Time

    The calendar reads early August, but the undertones of fall football weather were in the air on Friday as the Michigan State football team wore full pads for the first time during preseason camp. With a steady breeze, cloudy skies, and temperatures in the mid-60s, the Spartans practiced for two-and-a-half hours at the John and Becky Duffey Practice Fields behind the Duffy Daugherty Building. Following the workout, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio gave an update on the team to the media.

  • Practice ramps up as MSU runs Oklahoma drill

    The sound of football was in the air Friday in East Lansing. Michigan State held its first practice of fall camp Monday, but Friday is when things really picked up, as the Spartans put the pads on for the first time since the spring. That meant a fair amount of tackling drills for the beginning of Friday’s practice. But the highlight of the morning came when MSU ran its own version of the Oklahoma drill, featuring three blockers and a running back against three defenders.

This week’s segment will illustrate No’s a 4-6 of the ranking, followed by the awarding of the bronze, silver and gold medals one week later for No’s. 1-3.
