Sam Saliba has always made an impact during his four seasons at Michigan State. This season – his senior year – he’s making even more of an impact, and he’s having a lot more fun. During his Spartan career, Saliba’s been a strong leader, a standout penalty killer and defensive forward, and this season he’s added to his repertoire with key contributions on offense.

Senior Sam Saliba has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It’s the third consecutive week a Spartan has been named the league’s first star.

Spartans Announce Captains for 2019-20
Michigan State hockey head coach Danton Cole has announced the team captains for the 2019-20 season. Sam Saliba and Tommy Apap will serve as captains, while Jerad Rosburg and Patrick Khodorenko will be assistant captains. It marks the second straight season Saliba will wear the ‘C’ and the first for Apap, who served as an assistant captain last year. Rosburg and Khodorenko will both be serving in leadership roles for the first time as Spartans.

Sam Saliba Named 2018-19 Spartan Hockey Team Captain
Michigan State hockey head coach Danton Cole announced on Thursday (Sept. 30) that junior Sam Saliba has been elected team captain for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Additionally, the Spartans will have four assistant captains in seniors Brennan Sanford and Cody Milan; junior Taro Hirose; and sophomore Tommy Apap. The assistants will alternate duties with two of the four wearing A’s each game.

Saliba Scores Twice in Loss to No. 8 Ohio State
The Michigan State hockey team fell to No. 8 Ohio State in the second of a two game series, 5-3, on Saturday night at Munn Ice Arena. Sam Saliba scored twice for the Spartans in the loss.

Spartan Hockey Captains Announced for 2017-18 Season
Michigan State hockey head coach Danton Cole announced on Thursday (May 18) the team captains for the 2017-18 season. Junior Mason Appleton will serve as team captain, while senior Carson Gatt, junior Brennan Sanford and sophomore Sam Saliba were elected assistant captains.
