Ryan Brehm could’ve bagged competitive golf a long time ago. He could’ve done a number of things to earn a comfortable living, and a stable pay check. He could’ve gone and been a college golf coach. But the dream kept tugging at him, and he kept chasing.

If Ryan Brehm was nervous, he sure didn’t show it on the course Friday during the second round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. From making four birdies in his first nine holes, bombing a drive 344 yards into a greenside bunker and even making a tricky 3-foot par putt on the 18th hole that led to the gallery erupting in applause, the formerMichigan State golfer looked like the picture of calm on his way to shooting himself into contention with a 5-under-par 67.

Just one month into the new year and former Michigan State golfer Ryan Brehm has already competed in two PGA tournaments. After not participating in a PGA tournament since 2009, Brehm has played in seven since last November, and is the 247th best golfer in the world according to the official world golf ranking.
