  • Rocky Lombardi of Iowa completes ‘dream’

    Rocky Lombardi selected Michigan State as his future college last April. Since then, he has been playing a waiting game.The three-star quarterback from West Des Moines Valley signed his letter of intent to play football for the Spartans on Wednesday, about 10 months after committing to the program.

  • Rocky Lombardi hopes to follow in footsteps of former Spartans QBs … all the way to the NFL

    Rocky Lombardi had a question. What college football programs were most successful at developing quarterbacks into NFL players? He did his research, and Lombardi had his answers when he received an offer from Michigan State last year. “They were right at the top of that list,” Lombardi told Land of 10. “I was thrilled when I got the opportunity, and of course I accepted it.”

  • Trieu: Top Michigan State recruits driven by common goal

    Upon retiring from the NFL, Blaise Winter began speaking at clinics and helping schools with defensive line technique. One of the schools he worked with from approximately 2005-08 was Michigan State. In 2005, his son Donovan was only 6, but his father’s stories about working with the Spartans stuck with him. He decided at an early age that he wanted to be a Spartan.

  • The unique football education of Michigan State quarterback commit Rocky Lombardi

    Rocky Lombardi received much of his quarterback education in a car, en route with his father drove to a never-ending string of football practices, wrestling meets and baseball tournaments. From the driver’s seat, Tony Lombardi had plenty of knowledge to dole out. The former player at Arizona State had gone on to become a Division 1 defensive coordinator before moving on to become a high school coach.
